The drive from Erfoud to Fez was probably the best drive I've had, eclipsing even the best roads that Scotland
has to offer. I don't say that lightly - I've driven the best Highland roads many times in a Type-R Impreza,
so for these Moroccan roads to be fun in an old Granada is really saying something!
Unfortunately I was enjoying myself so much I forgot to stop and take pictures of the best bits, but they
included everything from the wide open plateau you see below, to spectacular mountain twisties, the kind an
Elise would be sublime on. There were hardly any police either, unlike the more densely populated Atlantic
side of the Atlas where there seemed to be a checkpoint at every village.
A funny thing happened when I took this shot - the goatherder either objected to me taking his photo, didn't
want to spoil the view, or thought I was going to shoot him, because he hid behind the roadside distance
marker! Fortunately I managed to get him before he ran off. This straight was quite literally 5 miles long.
Once again the photo doesn't do it justice, this was really epic scenery
